Al Sharpton and Nancy Pelosi are certainly trying to ride to the rescue here. This is a political attempt to derail not just contempt hearings, but in our opinion, to also derail a hearing to decide the competency and honor of one of Obama’s top lieutenants (and maybe more than one).
The hearing on Eric Holder’s department has been going on for 18 months, and the delays and obfuscations have been taking place due to everyone from the Justice Department to the White House trying to hide the fact that the White House and quite possibly the President himself were involved directly with Operation Fast and Furious.
Yet, according to Nancy “Wild Statements R Us” Pelosi, the GOP House has held up this contempt hearing specifically to attack Eric Holder’s attempt to halt Voter ID laws through lawsuits from the DOJ. The question one must ask Ms. Pelosi – how in the world did they plan this out so successfully when 18 months ago, you know – when CBS actually became a journalistic outlet for a moment and broke this story – those Voter ID laws weren’t under challenge from the DOJ. At all?
Amazingly Carnac like in their astute strategy, Issa and the GOP House of Representatives, shortly after winning the election in 2010 but before taking their seats, somehow managed to see this battle coming and prepare not only for this by attacking a person not yet involved in lawsuits over Voter ID, but take into account all the delays from the Left and plan the timing down to the millisecond.
How this affects a partisan DOJ is unknown at this time, assuming Holder’s second in command is committed to the same lawsuit pursuing the overturning of a common sense goal of ensuring a voter is who they say they are by simply showing an ID.
Perhaps the San Francisco representative has completely lost her faculties by now, seeing as how the DOJ isn’t likely to change if Holder were to resign, nor would his tactics or politics behind his decisions vary in all likelihood. What this points to, once again, is a defense of incompetence, perhaps reaching to the President’s top advisers, or could it be that they are buffering the President himself?
It would certainly seem that if this were Bush’s DOJ, the defense of this office and officer wouldn’t stand up to the maelstrom that would be the mainstream media. The maelstrom that has yet to materialize to envelop this darling creation of the media in the White House.
To accuse the House GOP of a race inhibiting witch hunt in order to suppress the vote simply because Mr. Holder’s second in command might have to take over with lawsuits attempting to overturn Voter ID is ludicrous. To not attempt to hold someone hiding documents showing at best incompetence and at worst collusion and corruption in contempt after 18 months would be laughable.
If a person was blocking information to hide incompetence, collusion or corruption in the Bush era – certainly the maelstrom from the media would be huge. Cheney and Halliburton springs to mind, or Mr. Bush’s AG Mr. Ashcroft facing a howling tornado of criticism for his faith.
Time to allow the documents to come forth – unless there really is something to fear. Funny thing is, much like Wasserman Schultz’s incompetence in the DNC and her driving people to the GOP with her divisiveness – Holder and Obama are sinking their own ship by so blatantly covering something up. If the motives were pure of heart, and there was nothing that terrible to show, why not show it and make the GOP look bad?
But they won’t, apparently.
Pelosi and Sharpton wish to protest a contempt vote, but they aren’t looking in the right direction to see who is the real author behind this mess – look to the left.
